The most enduring stories on Earth are connected to places, remembered with songs and taught through dances. In this way, First Nations Peoples perform incredible feats of memory and experience deep connection to the ecology of people, places and country. Such memories are made for a lifetime and beyond and are accurately transmitted from generation to generation.
Stories are set in time and space, from "Once upon a time in a faraway land.." to "When I woke up this morning...". Without spatial and temporal anchors they aren't really stories, just pieces of information without context.
When grandchildren and grandparents are engaged in stories of the "olden days" a bygone world is recreated in time and space to be remembered and vicariously experienced.
Storyplexes depend on location as contributing context to an experience, revealing stories that are evoked by and belong to a space. At Nuvue Studios we recreate spaces photographically and with video and imbed interactivity for experiences to unfold. You, the viewer, are transported to a stunning holiday location, an experiential learning environment or a complex cultural immersion that takes place in all directions. You need to be alert to take in information from all directions to experience the event fully. The technology at play here is still in early stages of development so there isn't yet a standardised language for talking about it, but it really makes sense when you see it.
